The Art of Blue and White: Discover Jingdezhen Porcelain
Let's take a small detour this week to Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China! 🇨🇳
We explored the full process of hand-thrown, hand-painted blue-and-white porcelain:
1,Raw Material Preparation – Natural clay, kaolin, feldspar, and quartz are carefully selected and mixed in precise proportions.
2, Hand-Thrown & Trimming – The clay is shaped on the potter’s wheel, and excess material is trimmed to refine the form and create a balanced foot ring.
3,Hand Painting – Skilled artisans meticulously apply cobalt blue designs onto unfired or slightly dried clay, ensuring each piece is unique.
4,Glazing – A layer of clear glaze is applied over the hand-painted decoration, preparing the piece for firing.
5,High-Temperature Firing – The piece is fired once at high temperature, fusing glaze and pigment together to produce a smooth, glossy surface with vivid, durable blue patterns.
This hands-on experience gave us a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship, artistry, and precision behind every piece of Jingdezhen porcelain. 👉 Want to learn more? Contact us at jsun@youlikegift.com or visit www.youlikegiftcraft.com
